Ministry  Personnel -Harrowsmith-Verona Pastoral Charge

Harrowsmith-Verona Pastoral Charge is seeking a dynamic spiritual leader to guide our active and engaged congregation located in beautiful Frontenac County.

We are looking for a half-time ministry personnel (ordained, diaconal, designated lay or student) to fill a vacancy due to the recent retirement of our minister.

We are seeking an outgoing individual who will invigorate our congregation with the necessary skills to deliver inspirational, timely and relevant worship services with a strong emphasis on biblical preaching. Inclusion and promotion of our children and youth is an important part of our worship.

Pastoral care is a priority with attention being given to hospital visitation, shut-ins, newcomers, and those with expressed needs. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with us in our goal of enhancing our caring and welcoming congregation.

Our congregation is supported by a voluntary retired minister and a licensed lay worship leader who are flexible and available to support our successful candidate.

Our music program is a vibrant and important part of our church life. We have an active four part (SATB) choir, a music director, a relatively new 2-manual Ahlborn-Galanti organ, and a Steinway grand piano.

We have a well established Sunday School program and our children are active and visible in our church.

Our church is very active in the community. We regularly support the local food bank as well as food hampers in December and July. Our annual evening Choral Christmas concert with a combined congregational and community choir is a gift to our community. The choir engages with local long term care homes to provide musical presentations to their residents. We collaborate with local community groups to provide access to our modern facilities to support their mission.

Our well maintained building includes a Sanctuary, a recreational centre, a finished basement, a minister’s study, Sunday School classrooms, a commercial kitchen, and a newly installed

furnace and air conditioning system. Our most recent initiatives are to improve access to our Sanctuary with the addition of a wheelchair ramp as well as upgrading our audio system to support those with hearing challenges.

Verona is situated in the beautiful Land ’O Lakes region of eastern Ontario, just 30 minutes north of the city of Kingston. The community boasts access to multiple elementary and secondary schools within our catchment; Public, Catholic and French and offers organized recreational facilities that support year round activity (Soccer, Baseball, Football, Hockey).
