What a joy and a blessing it has been to me to have been called to this pastoral charge. I arrived here Nov. 1st and have been busy since then getting to know everyone, through committee meetings, visits, Bible study, community events and Sunday worship services.

Who am I? I was born in Kingston and have lived most of my life in this area. I am the proud mother of three adult children and one grandchild, a graduate of St. Lawrence College and Queen’s Theological College, and was ordained in 1999. Prior to coming to the Harrowsmith-Verona Pastoral Charge, I worked as the Continuing Education and Recruiting Officer at Queen’s Theological College.

What brought me to Harrowsmith-Verona? Although I enjoyed very much my work at the College, my real calling is to pastoral ministry. It is what I studied for and where my heart lies. When I learned that this charge was looking for a new minister, after much prayer and thought, I knew I had to apply. It just felt like a "good fit" to me.

And so here I am – and very happy to be so. A Scripture passage that has shaped my faith journey over many years has been 1 John 3:2 "Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed".

As I get to know these two communities and the people here, my excitement and optimism about our future together increases. What we will be has not yet been revealed. The possibilities for our shared ministry are endless! The two congregations of this pastoral charge have an obvious commitment to outreach which is manifested in a number of different ways – everything from the Tuesday lunches at St. Paul’s to the amazing dinners and Christmas concert at Trinity, all truly a gift to the community. Small, but enthusiastic Sunday Schools with dedicated and very capable teachers and strong congregational support of our children is an indication of our commitment to future growth. The music leadership provided by Annabelle Twiddy (St. Paul’s) and Margaret Smith (Trinity) and their respective choirs greatly enhances our worship experiences. We are more than fortunate; we are truly blessed, by these people.

Because I don’t live in the immediate community, I am working out of the pastoral charge office in Harrowsmith so that I will be in the area as much as possible. I will also be spending at least one morning a week in the Trinity office. Monday afternoons (St. Paul’s) and Wednesday mornings (Trinity), you will find me in the respective church offices, working away but with coffee and tea at hand to welcome anyone who wishes to stop by. You may find me in the pastoral charge office at other times as well.

To those current members of the Harrowsmith-Verona Pastoral Charge, I want to say thank you for your help and support and your warm welcome. I feel very much at home.

To those who are new to the area or just beginning your search for a church home, I invite you to consider joining us at either Trinity or St. Paul’s. You will be as warmly welcomed as I have been.
